The Wayside Tavern is owned by a middle-aged male wood elf known as Galadhon, who had been a Naturan soldier a few centuries ago.
It is beside a road between two important, but distant cities in Natura. There's a forest on the north side of the road (which goes east-to-west) and a river on the south side of the road, with the tavern between the road and the river. A dirt path goes from the river to the road, and also to the tavern. The tavern has a few fields with cows, for fresh milk, and some fields to produce some vegetables and grains (like corn, tomatoes, and wheat), and a small orchard nearby that produces apples and oranges. The tavern itself is a three-story building, with the lowest level made of green marble, with the second floor and top floors made of stained t'vik. The roof has shale shingles on it, this being a job one of Galadhon's military/adventuring friends had done for him. There is a well about sixteen feet away from the southern side of the tavern, said well's walls being made of white marble.
The inside of the bar has hard, granite floors (another job done by a friend of Galadhon's), and stained t'vik panels on the walls. The doors are all made of t'vik (a good idea for a place that would be easily burnable with another type of wood). The bar itself is made of black granite and is polished. The tables and chairs are all made of stained t'vik, and the fireplaces in the eastern and western walls have metal grates made of iron in front of them to prevent someone falling in by accident while drunk.
In main floor is fairly large for a roadside tavern, big enough for a good fifty-to-sixty people to sit around and chat comfortably, and there are enough guest rooms in the upper floors to house that many individuals. The ceiling is higher than normal for those of the Hume species, so that some of the larger beastfolk, as well as golems, don't have to duck down upon entering and walking around. There is a wall dividing the tavern in half; the east side for the herbivores (and those omnivores restricting themselves to a vegetarian diet), and the west side for the carnivores/omnivores. This wall is made of green granite, and itself is cut in half by a stage in the middle of it. Specially-made dark purple curtains usually cover the stage, keeping the scents from one end of the tavern from reaching the other end. The stage itself is made of black-painted t'vik wood, circular and crafted so as to appear mysterious. The stage is where the evening and nighttime entertainment takes place.
The bar serves water, milk, apple juice, cider, orange juice, and several kinds of wine, ale, mead (an alcoholic drink made from honey), alcoholic cider, watered-down rum, and occasionally vodka (in the winter time only). In terms of food, it serves several kinds of meat (including pork, venison, and beef, as well as some kinds of hume meat [human being most predominant of the hume meats]), as well as corn, bread, cheese, rice, apples, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a number of locally-grown vegetables as well as imported ones. Various imported fruits are also available, exactly what depends on the market.
Common imports are various alcoholic drinks, meat, some fruits not locally grown (such as bananas), some exotic (such as kelp or seaweed) and not-so-exotic (such as broccoli) vegetables, various grains (such as rice), flour, and some various miscellaneous things. Common exports are excess tomatoes and other locally-grown vegetables, wheat, excess corn, excess milk, excess apples and oranges, and wooden carvings made by Galadhon himself. Galadhon often offers merchants and traders free room and board in return for reduced prices.
The tavern has only three individuals running it, but it is run effectively all the same. The barmaid/entertainer is a young elfmaid known as Dyril, who is also an assistant cook. The head cook is a middle-aged human female named Selena, who took over the position when the previous cook, an old amotekun male named Adikala, died of old age.
